After hours of frustration I realised it is a glitch associated with the F5 key. The program has a habit of resolving the spell after combat (rendering it completely useless). Opponent swings so I want to cast ‘Become Immense’ on my own creature. There is a slight glitch where you cannot cast instant spells when the opponent has declared attackers. – KEY TIP: This one has bugged a LOT of people. Initially I thought the game had dropped, but you are automatically taken back to the game when both players are ready (it can take up to 3 mins). When your sideboard is finished you are returned to the lobby until your opponent is also finished. I wasted weeks not seeing this and scrolling through the cards to find the one I was after. – When you want to search for cards to add to your deck there is a search box in the middle row, between the searched cards above and the cards in your deck below.

The server takes a few moments to run, so if you do it all too quickly it will say there is no server. In order for this to work you need to navigate to the server folder, activate the server as a local host, then go and open the client, and select local host in the server options. – There is a server where you can play against AI, but it does have quite a few limitations. Navigate to the folder called mage-client and then click the startclient.bat file to begin the program. That location will be where you start the game from each time (rather than your programs shortcut). – When you download and install the program it will be saved to a particular location. I won’t go into detail about what it does and how to do it, as you can easily browse and see that for yourself, I thought I would just add a few pointers for those new to the program that will explain a few things I was confused about to begin with: For this reason, you often encounter a variety of builds when playing (rather than just Abzan and Esper dragons etc all the time). It works very well as an environment to test out your brews to see what works and what does not work. The major downside of it is no tournaments etc, but you are free to create one if you wish (it seems people are just more content to play individual matches). It is basically Magic Online, except that it is totally free.

I thought I would write a post about this fantastic program for Magic players called Xmage.
